Vitamin K3 (menadione) is a synthetic naphthoquinone that acts as a precursor form of vitamin K, supplied by Nustras as a powder for the animal-nutrition sector. Unlike the natural K1 and K2 forms it is synthetic; the commercial article is normally a stabilised salt, menadione sodium bisulfite (MSB) or menadione nicotinamide bisulfite (MNB), as stated on the specification sheet.
It is formulated into vitamin premixes, compound feed and feed supplements for poultry, swine, aquaculture and other livestock, where it is the standard vitamin K source. It is not an ingredient for human dietary supplements in major markets.
The material is a powder; colour is stated on the specification sheet. The parent compound menadione has CAS number 58-27-5, molecular formula C11H8O2 and molecular weight 172.18. Menadione content is standardised to specification and determined by HPLC or titration against a reference standard; heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies vitamin K3 in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed packaging and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Menadione salts are authorised feed additives in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted form, species and inclusion level for their application.
