Vitamin C

Vitamin C is L-ascorbic acid, a water-soluble vitamin and the food antioxidant designated E300, supplied by Nustras as a white to slightly yellow crystalline powder, with granular and coated grades available for tableting and taste-masked applications. It is one of the most widely used vitamins in nutrition and food processing.

It is formulated into vitamin C and multivitamin supplements, tablets, effervescents, chewables, capsules and powders, into fortified beverages, juices, cereals and confectionery, and is used as an antioxidant and colour-protecting agent in processed meats, fruit products and beverages, as well as in cosmetic formulations.

The material is a white to slightly yellow crystalline powder, freely soluble in water. CAS number 50-81-7, molecular formula C6H8O6. Assay of ascorbic acid 99.0–100.5% by titration, meeting USP, EP, BP and FCC monographs and the E300 purity criteria, non-GMO; heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
