Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin of the cobalamin family, a large cobalt-containing molecule, supplied by Nustras as cyanocobalamin, the stable crystalline form used throughout the food and supplement industry. Because finished products need only very small amounts, it is also handled as standardised dilutions on a food-grade carrier.
It is formulated into vitamin B12 and B-complex supplements, multivitamins, tablets, capsules, sublingual and liquid products, energy and sports-nutrition formulations, fortified cereals and plant-based beverages, and vitamin premixes for food and animal feed.
The material is a dark red, hygroscopic crystalline powder, sparingly soluble in water and stored protected from light. CAS number 68-19-9, molecular formula C63H88CoN14O14P, molecular weight 1355.4. Identity is confirmed by ultraviolet spectroscopy and assay by HPLC or spectrophotometry, both standardised to specification; heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies vitamin B12 in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed light-protective packaging and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Cyanocobalamin is a permitted form of vitamin B12 in major supplement and food-fortification markets; buyers confirm the concentration, grade and permitted level for their application.
