Vitamin A Palmitate

Vitamin A palmitate (retinyl palmitate) is the stable, fat-soluble ester form of vitamin A, supplied by Nustras as an oil or as a stabilised, cold-water-dispersible (CWS) dry powder for food, beverage and supplement manufacturing. It is the preferred vitamin A source for fortification because the palmitate ester resists oxidation far better than retinol.

It is used as an active nutrient in dietary supplements such as softgels, tablets and gummies, in infant and clinical nutrition, in dairy and plant-milk fortification, in margarine and fortified foods, and in vitamin premixes. The CWS powder disperses in aqueous systems while the oil grade suits lipid matrices and softgels.

Vitamin A palmitate has the molecular formula C36H60O2, a molecular weight of 524.9 and CAS 79-81-2, and the powder is a pale-yellow to bright-yellow free-flowing solid; the oil grade is a yellow oil.
