Calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF-Ca, L-5-methylfolate calcium) is the calcium salt of L-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, the naturally occurring, biologically active form of folate (vitamin B9) found in food and in human plasma. Nustras supplies it as a white to yellowish powder in USP grade for use as a folate source in supplements and fortified foods.
It is formulated into multivitamin, prenatal-category and B-complex supplements in tablet, capsule, softgel and gummy form, into fortified foods, beverages and nutritional powders, and into vitamin premixes, often as an alternative to folic acid.
The material is a white to yellowish powder; it is sensitive to light, heat and oxidation and is handled and stored accordingly. Calcium 5-methyltetrahydrofolate content, chiral purity (L-isomer), related substances, water and calcium content are standardised to the USP monograph; identity and assay are confirmed by HPLC, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed light-protective packaging and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate is an accepted folate source in major supplement and food markets; buyers confirm the permitted level, folate equivalence and claim for their application.
