Calcium ascorbate dihydrate is the calcium salt of L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), supplied by Nustras as a white to pale-yellow crystalline powder and used as a buffered, near-neutral source of vitamin C. It is a water-soluble mineral ascorbate listed as food additive E302, and the dihydrate form carries water of crystallisation.
It is formulated into vitamin C and multivitamin supplements in tablet, capsule and powder form, vitamin premixes, effervescent and powdered beverages, fortified foods and sports-nutrition products, and as an antioxidant additive in processed foods.
The material is a white to faintly yellow, odourless crystalline powder; CAS number 5743-28-2, molecular formula C12H18CaO14, molecular weight 426.34. Ascorbate content is confirmed by iodometric titration or HPLC, calcium by complexometric titration, and the material is standardised to specification. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies calcium ascorbate dihydrate in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Calcium ascorbate is an accepted food additive and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the vitamin C and calcium contributions, grade and permitted level for their application.
