Sunflower Oil

Sunflower oil is the edible fixed oil pressed from the seeds of the sunflower, Helianthus annuus, supplied by Nustras as a clear, light-yellow liquid in certified organic quality and used as a carrier oil and lipid ingredient for supplements, foods and cosmetics. It is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, principally linoleic and oleic acids.

It is formulated into softgel capsules and liquid supplements as a carrier for oil-soluble actives, into margarines, dressings, bakery and snack products, and into skin-care and massage products as an emollient base.

The material is a clear, light-yellow liquid; a BP-grade material is available. Fatty-acid composition is confirmed by gas chromatography, with acid value, peroxide value and iodine value measured by standard oil-chemistry methods, and the oil is standardised to specification. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
