Zinc picolinate is a mineral chelate in which zinc is bound to picolinic acid (pyridine-2-carboxylic acid), supplied by Nustras as a white to off-white powder, in standard and micronised grades, and used as a source of the trace mineral zinc for supplements and premixes. Zinc is an essential trace element and a cofactor for a large number of enzymes.
It is formulated into zinc and multimineral supplements in capsule, tablet and powder form, mineral premixes, sports-nutrition products and fortified foods. The micronised grade is intended for suspensions and homogeneous dry blends.
The material is a white to off-white, odourless powder; CAS number 17949-65-4, molecular formula C12H8N2O4Zn, molecular weight 309.6. Zinc content is confirmed by complexometric titration or atomic absorption spectroscopy, identity by infrared spectroscopy, and the material is standardised to specification. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies zinc picolinate in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and sealed packaging, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Zinc picolinate is an accepted mineral source in major supplement markets; buyers confirm the elemental-zinc contribution, grade and permitted level for their application.
