Zinc monomethionine is an organic zinc complex in which one zinc ion is bound to the sulphur-containing amino acid L-methionine, also described as zinc L-methioninate. Nustras supplies it as a white to off-white powder used as a zinc source in the supplement, nutrition and feed sectors. Zinc is an essential trace element and a cofactor for a large number of enzymes.
The complex is formulated into zinc and multi-mineral supplements in tablet and capsule form, into vitamin and mineral premixes, and into animal-feed premixes where organic trace minerals are specified.
The material is a white to off-white powder (CAS 56329-42-1, molecular formula C5H11NO6S2Zn, molecular weight 310.7). Elemental zinc content is standardised to specification and determined by titration or ICP, with identity confirmed by infrared spectroscopy; loss on drying is standardised to specification, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies zinc monomethionine in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Zinc methionine complexes are accepted zinc sources in major supplement and feed markets; buyers confirm the elemental-zinc contribution, grade and permitted level for their application.
