Zinc Gluconate

Zinc gluconate is the zinc salt of gluconic acid, supplied by Nustras as a white crystalline powder and in granular, direct-compression granular and micronised forms, and is a widely used source of the essential trace mineral zinc. The gluconate salt is water-soluble with a mild taste.

It is formulated into zinc and multimineral supplements, tablets, lozenges, capsules, effervescent and chewable products, fortified foods and beverages and nutritional premixes. The direct-compression grade is intended for tableting and the micronised grade for liquids and fine blends.

The material is a white to nearly white crystalline powder or granule, soluble in water. CAS number 4468-02-4, molecular formula C12H22O14Zn, molecular weight 455.7. Zinc content is determined by complexometric titration and identity by infrared spectroscopy, both standardised to specification; heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
