Selenium glycinate is a complex of the trace element selenium with the amino acid glycine, supplied by Nustras as a fine powder and used as a selenium source in dietary supplements and nutrient premixes. Selenium is an essential trace element that occurs in the body as a constituent of selenoproteins.
Because selenium is used at microgram levels, the complex is normally pre-diluted on a carrier such as maltodextrin or dicalcium phosphate before blending. It is formulated into multimineral and trace-element tablets and capsules, selenium supplements, nutrient premixes, functional foods and beverages, and, where permitted, feed premixes.
The material is a powder; molecular formula C4H8N2O4Se, molecular weight 227.09. Selenium content is standardised to specification, with identity confirmed by an appropriate spectroscopic method and assay by ICP or atomic absorption spectroscopy. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies selenium glycinate in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed packaging and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Selenium amino acid complexes are accepted selenium sources in major supplement markets, subject to strict upper levels; buyers confirm the elemental-selenium contribution, grade and permitted level for their application.
