Magnesium fumarate anhydrous is the water-free magnesium salt of fumaric acid, supplied by Nustras as a powder, a micronised grade and a direct-granulation granular grade, and used as a source of the mineral magnesium for supplements and fortified foods. Fumaric acid is a naturally occurring organic acid and an intermediate of the citric acid cycle.
Magnesium fumarate anhydrous is formulated into magnesium and multimineral supplements in tablets, capsules and powders, into nutritional premixes and into functional foods, particularly where a moisture-sensitive formula calls for an anhydrous mineral salt.
The material is a white powder or granule. CAS number 6880-23-5, molecular formula C4H2MgO4, molecular weight 138.36. Magnesium is assayed by complexometric titration or ICP and fumarate by HPLC; identity is confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and the material is standardised to specification. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies magnesium fumarate anhydrous in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Magnesium is a permitted mineral source in major supplement and food markets; buyers confirm the elemental-magnesium contribution and permitted level for their application.
