Magnesium Ascorbate

Magnesium ascorbate is the magnesium salt of L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), a buffered, non-acidic mineral ascorbate, supplied by Nustras as a white to pale yellow powder, a combined source of vitamin C and magnesium for supplements and fortification.

It is formulated into vitamin C, magnesium and multivitamin-mineral supplements in tablet, capsule and powder form, into fortified beverages and drink mixes, sports-nutrition and electrolyte blends, vitamin-mineral premixes, cosmetics and animal nutrition.

The material is a white to pale yellow powder, soluble in water (CAS 15431-40-0; molecular formula C12H14MgO12, molecular weight 374.54). Ascorbic acid and magnesium content, loss on drying, pH and particle size are standardised to specification; identity is confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and ascorbate assay by HPLC, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
