Glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride (glucosamine sulfate 2KCl) is a stabilised double salt of glucosamine sulfate with potassium chloride, supplied by Nustras as a crystalline powder and a widely used commercial form of glucosamine for dietary supplements. Glucosamine is an amino sugar, 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-glucose, that occurs naturally as a building block of glycosaminoglycans; co-crystallisation with potassium chloride gives a stable, free-flowing salt.
It is formulated into capsules, tablets, powdered drink mixes and liquid supplements, very often in combination with chondroitin sulfate or methylsulfonylmethane, and into premixes for the supplement and animal-nutrition sectors.
The material is a crystalline powder with CAS number 1296149-08-0, molecular formula C12H28Cl2K2N2O14S and molecular weight 605.5. Glucosamine content and specific rotation are standardised to specification; identity and assay are confirmed by the compendial methods, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis. The glucosamine source (shellfish or fermentation) is stated on the specification sheet.
Nustras supplies glucosamine sulfate potassium chloride in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. It is an accepted supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted level, source declaration and claim for their application.
