Copper chelate (rice-based) is a mineral ingredient in which copper ions are bound to peptides and amino acids obtained from hydrolysed rice protein, supplied by Nustras as a powder and used as a source of the trace mineral copper in supplements and fortified foods. Copper is an essential trace element and a cofactor for several enzymes; binding it to a rice-protein hydrolysate gives a plant-derived mineral form.
It is formulated into mineral and multimineral supplements, capsules, tablets and powdered blends, into fortified and functional foods and beverages and into nutritional premixes, including formulations positioned as plant-based where a rice-derived mineral carrier is preferred.
The material is a powder; colour is stated on the specification sheet. Copper content is standardised to specification and determined by atomic absorption or ICP spectrometry; identity of the rice-protein carrier is confirmed, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies copper chelate (rice-based) in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Copper is a permitted mineral in major supplement and food markets; buyers confirm the elemental-copper contribution, permitted form and level for their application.
