Cobalt amino acid chelate is a trace-mineral chelate in which cobalt, as the divalent cobalt ion, is bound to amino acids such as glycine or to the amino acids of a hydrolysed protein. Nustras supplies it as a powder, used as a source of the trace element cobalt, mainly in animal nutrition. Cobalt is the central atom of vitamin B12 (cobalamin), which ruminal micro-organisms synthesise from dietary cobalt.
It is formulated into feed premixes and trace-mineral packs for cattle, sheep and goats, mineral licks and blocks, aquaculture and pet-food premixes.
The material is a powder. Cobalt content is standardised to specification, with identity confirmed by an appropriate spectroscopic method and assay by ICP or atomic absorption spectroscopy. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies cobalt amino acid chelate in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed packaging and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Cobalt amino acid chelates are regulated feed additives in major markets, with maximum cobalt levels set per animal species and feed type; buyers confirm the elemental-cobalt contribution, permitted level and application in their own jurisdiction.
