Calcium lactate anhydrous is the calcium salt of lactic acid in its water-free form, supplied by Nustras as a white powder and as a directly granulated grade, and used as a source of the mineral calcium in supplements, fortified foods and pharmaceutical preparations. Calcium lactate is one of the more soluble calcium salts, which makes it practical where the calcium source must dissolve readily.
It is formulated into mineral supplements in tablet, capsule and powder form, into multimineral and calcium-magnesium premixes, and into fortified foods and beverages such as dairy alternatives, bakery products and confectionery. The granular grade is intended for direct compression; the powder grade suits blends, sachets and liquid applications.
The material is a white to almost white powder or granule. CAS number 814-80-2, molecular formula C6H10CaO6, molecular weight 218.22. Calcium content, loss on drying, chloride, sulphate and pH are standardised to specification; identity and assay are confirmed by complexometric titration, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies calcium lactate anhydrous in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Calcium lactate is an accepted calcium source and food additive in major markets; buyers confirm the elemental-calcium contribution, grade and permitted level for their application.
