Calcium bisglycinate is an amino-acid chelate in which one calcium ion is bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine, supplied by Nustras as a white powder and in coated, granular, micronised and taste-free grades as a source of the mineral calcium for supplements, premixes and fortified foods.
It is formulated into calcium and multimineral supplements in tablet, capsule and powder form, into sports-nutrition powders, into mineral premixes, and into fortified foods and beverages. The granular DC and DG grades are intended for direct compression; the micronised and taste-free grades suit beverages, sachets and blends.
The material is a white to off-white powder or granule. CAS 35947-07-0, molecular formula C4H8CaN2O4, molecular weight 188.20. Calcium content, glycine content, loss on drying, pH and particle size are standardised to specification; identity is confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and the calcium content by complexometric titration or inductively coupled plasma spectrometry, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies calcium bisglycinate in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Calcium bisglycinate is an accepted calcium source in major supplement and food markets; buyers confirm the elemental-calcium contribution, grade and permitted level for their application.
