Calcium alpha-ketoglutarate (calcium AKG) is the calcium salt of alpha-ketoglutaric acid (2-oxoglutaric acid), an intermediate of the tricarboxylic acid (Krebs) cycle, supplied by Nustras as a white powder and in granular grades as a combined source of calcium and alpha-ketoglutarate for the supplement sector.
It is formulated into dietary supplements in capsule, tablet and powder form, into sports-nutrition and amino-acid formulations, into mineral blends and premixes for functional foods and beverages, and into medical-nutrition products.
The material is a white to off-white powder or granule, odourless, with low solubility in water. Calcium content, alpha-ketoglutarate content, loss on drying, particle size and bulk density are standardised to specification; identity is confirmed by infrared spectroscopy, calcium by complexometric titration and alpha-ketoglutarate by HPLC, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis. Available forms are powder, micronised powder and granular DC and DG grades.
Nustras supplies calcium AKG in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Calcium alpha-ketoglutarate is used as a supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the elemental-calcium contribution, regulatory status and permitted level for their application.
