Boron citrate is an organic boron compound in which boron is combined with citric acid, supplied by Nustras as a white powder and used as a source of the trace element boron for supplements and premixes. The citrate is one of the common organic boron sources used in nutritional formulation.
It is formulated into trace-mineral and multimineral supplements in tablet, capsule and powder form, into sports-nutrition products, into vitamin and mineral premixes, and into fortified powders where a low-dose boron source is required.
The material is a white to off-white powder. Molecular formula C6H5BO7, molecular weight 199.91. Boron content, loss on drying and particle size are standardised to specification; identity and assay are confirmed by ICP-OES or ICP-MS for boron and by a titration or chromatographic test for citrate, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies boron citrate in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Boron compounds are permitted supplement ingredients in major markets; buyers confirm the elemental-boron contribution and permitted level for their application.
