N-Acetyl L-cysteine, commonly abbreviated NAC, is the N-acetylated derivative of the sulfur-containing amino acid L-cysteine, with the acetyl group bound to the amino nitrogen. Nustras supplies N-acetyl L-cysteine as a synthetic crystalline powder, in standard and vegan-declared grades, used as an ingredient in dietary supplements and pharmaceutical formulations.
N-Acetyl L-cysteine is formulated into capsules, tablets, effervescent tablets, powders and sachets, and into amino-acid blends. It is also used as an active substance in pharmaceutical dosage forms, where the buyer specifies the pharmacopoeial grade.
N-Acetyl L-cysteine is a white crystalline powder with a slight characteristic sulfurous odour, freely soluble in water. The CAS number is 616-91-1, the molecular formula C5H9NO3S and the molecular weight 163.20. Each lot is standardised to specification, identity and assay are confirmed by HPLC or iodometric titration, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies N-acetyl L-cysteine in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. N-Acetyl L-cysteine is an accepted supplement ingredient in several major markets and a pharmacopoeial substance in others; buyers confirm the regulatory status and permitted level in their market.
