Lactobacillus reuteri is a Gram-positive, rod-shaped lactic acid bacterium that naturally inhabits the human gastrointestinal tract, oral cavity, and vagina, and is also found in animal intestines. It produces reuterin and is widely used in probiotic formats such as capsules or powders, infant formulas, functional foods and dairy products, and animal feed additives.
