Inulin

Category: Functional Ingredients

Inulin is a naturally occurring fructan polysaccharide, a chain of fructose units ending in a glucose unit, extracted commercially mainly from chicory root (Cichorium intybus). Nustras supplies it as a white powder, in conventional and organic-certified grades, for use as a soluble dietary fibre, bulking agent and sugar-reduction ingredient.

Inulin is formulated into fibre and prebiotic-category supplements in powder, capsule and tablet form, into functional foods and beverages, dairy products, bakery, cereals and bars, into nutritional powders and premixes, and into animal feed and pet food.

The material is a white to off-white powder, odourless to slightly sweet in odour and taste; CAS number 9005-80-5. Inulin content, degree of polymerisation, loss on drying, ash and pH are standardised to specification, and a USP grade is available; identity and assay are confirmed by HPLC, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.

Nustras supplies inulin in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Inulin is an accepted food and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted use, level and fibre claim for their application.
