Zinc fumarate is the zinc salt of fumaric acid, supplied by Nustras in powder and micronised grades and used as an organic zinc source for supplements and fortification. Fumaric acid is a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid and a recognised food acidulant.
It is formulated into zinc and multimineral supplements in tablet, capsule and powder form, into vitamin and mineral premixes, into fortified foods and nutritional powders, and into animal-nutrition premixes where a dry, free-flowing zinc salt is required.
The material is a white to off-white powder. Molecular formula C4H4O4Zn, molecular weight 181.5. Zinc content, loss on drying and particle size are standardised to specification; identity and assay are confirmed by complexometric titration or ICP for zinc, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis. The micronised grade is sized for fine dispersion in powders and premixes.
Nustras supplies zinc fumarate in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Zinc salts of organic acids are accepted zinc sources in major supplement markets; buyers confirm the elemental-zinc contribution and permitted level for their application.
