Sodium Magnesium Chlorophyllin is a semi-synthetic, water-soluble derivative of chlorophyll in which the central magnesium atom is retained and the compound is stabilized with sodium salts. It is used primarily as a natural green food colorant (E141ii), an internal deodorant in supplements, and an antioxidant and wound-healing agent in topical and oral applications. Compared to copper chlorophyllin, this form retains the magnesium ion, closer to the natural chlorophyll structure.
