PVP K-30 (povidone K-30) is a synthetic, water-soluble polymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone, graded by its K-value, a measure of average molecular weight and solution viscosity. It is one of the most widely used binders and film-formers in tablet manufacture. Nustras supplies it as a white to off-white free-flowing powder in a pharmacopoeial grade.
PVP K-30 is formulated into tablets and granules as a binder for wet and dry granulation, into supplements and pharmaceuticals as a solubiliser and crystallisation inhibitor, into film coatings, into cosmetics such as hair-styling and skin-care products, and into beverage clarification.
The material is a white to off-white, hygroscopic, free-flowing powder, freely soluble in water and alcohol. CAS number 9003-39-8, molecular formula (C6H9NO)n. Identity is confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and K-value by viscosity measurement; nitrogen content, residual monomer, peroxides, water content, heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies PVP K-30 in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Povidone is an accepted pharmaceutical excipient and food additive in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted use and level for their application.
