Propandiol

Propandiol, often referring to 1,3-propanediol, is a colorless, odorless, hygroscopic liquid with the formula C3H8O2. It is used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food products primarily as a solvent, moisturizing agent, and carrier, and is valued for its ability to retain moisture and improve texture. It can be bio-based (derived from renewable sources) or petrochemical-based and is sometimes used as an alternative to propylene glycol.
