Methyl Salicylate is a naturally occurring ester of salicylic acid and methanol, also known as oil of wintergreen due to its minty aroma. It is used in topical analgesics and counterirritants, as well as flavoring agents and fragrances in personal care products. Natural sources include Gaultheria procumbens (Wintergreen) and Betula lenta (Sweet Birch).
