Magnesium chloride is an inorganic salt of magnesium and chlorine, supplied by Nustras as white crystals or crystalline powder; the anhydrous or hydrated form supplied is stated on the specification sheet. It is used as a source of the mineral magnesium in supplements and fortification, as the food additive E511 in food processing.
It is formulated into magnesium and multimineral tablets, capsules and powders, electrolyte and sports beverages, nutrient premixes and fortified foods. In food processing it serves as a firming agent and coagulant, notably in tofu production,.
The material is a white, hygroscopic crystalline solid, freely soluble in water; CAS 7786-30-3, molecular formula Cl2Mg, molecular weight 95.21 for the anhydrous salt. Magnesium chloride content is standardised to specification, with assay by complexometric titration. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies magnesium chloride in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed moisture-barrier packaging and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Magnesium chloride is a permitted food additive and magnesium source in major food and supplement markets; buyers confirm the elemental-magnesium contribution, grade and permitted level for their application.
