L-Orotic Acid (also known simply as orotic acid) is a naturally occurring compound and intermediate in the biosynthesis of pyrimidines (a type of nucleotide). It is involved in nucleic acid synthesis (DNA & RNA building blocks) and is sometimes used in nutritional supplements, especially in mineral orotate forms (e.g., magnesium orotate, zinc orotate).
