Glycerin, or glycerol, is a simple trihydric alcohol obtained from vegetable oils or by synthesis. Nustras supplies it as a clear, colourless, viscous and sweet-tasting liquid, miscible with water and alcohol, for use as a humectant, solvent, sweetener and carrier in food, supplement, pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations.
Glycerin is formulated into softgel capsule shells and liquid fills, into syrups, tinctures and liquid supplements as a solvent and sweetener, into confectionery, bakery and beverage products as a humectant and texturiser, and into toothpaste, skin-care and personal-care products.
The material is a clear colourless viscous liquid, hygroscopic, with CAS number 56-81-5, molecular formula C3H8O3 and molecular weight 92.09, standardised to specification. Identity is confirmed by infrared spectroscopy and assay by titration or gas chromatography against the pharmacopoeial monograph, and specific gravity, water content, colour, chlorides, sulfates, heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies glycerin in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed drums and intermediate bulk containers, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Glycerin is an accepted food additive and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the grade and permitted use for their application.
