cis-3-Hexen-1-ol, also called leaf alcohol or cis-3-hexenol, is an unsaturated six-carbon alcohol and one of the green-leaf volatiles released by cut grass and crushed leaves, responsible for their fresh, green odour. It occurs naturally in tea, fruits and many herbs and is also produced synthetically. Nustras supplies it as a colourless liquid, a flavour and fragrance raw material.
cis-3-Hexen-1-ol is formulated into flavour compositions for beverages, confectionery, dairy, tea and fruit flavours where a fresh green top note is wanted, and into fragrance compositions for fine fragrance, personal-care and household products.
The material is a clear, colourless liquid with an intense green, grassy odour. Purity, isomer ratio, refractive index and specific gravity are standardised to specification; identity and assay are determined by gas chromatography, and heavy-metal and residual-solvent limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis. CAS 928-96-1, molecular formula C6H12O, molecular weight 100.16.
Nustras supplies cis-3-hexen-1-ol in bulk commercial quantities, in sealed drums and canisters, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. cis-3-Hexen-1-ol is an accepted flavouring substance in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted use level and natural or synthetic designation for their application.
