Ammonium sulfate (E517) is an inorganic salt of ammonia and sulfuric acid, supplied by Nustras as white crystals or granules in a food-chemicals-codex (FCC) grade. It is a long-established processing aid in food and fermentation and a standard laboratory reagent.
Ammonium sulfate is formulated into bakery products as a dough conditioner and yeast nutrient, into fermentation media for yeast, enzyme and amino-acid production, into brewing and winemaking as a yeast nutrient, and into laboratory protein precipitation. Industrial and agricultural grades serve fertiliser and flame-retardant uses.
The material is a colourless to white crystalline or granular solid, freely soluble in water. CAS number 7783-20-2, molecular formula (NH4)2SO4, molecular weight 132.14. Identity and assay are confirmed by titration against the FCC monograph; residue on ignition, selenium, lead, heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies ammonium sulfate of Chinese origin in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and sealed packaging, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Ammonium sulfate is an accepted food additive in major markets, within defined uses; buyers confirm the permitted use and level for their application.
