Zeaxanthin Beadlets

Zeaxanthin beadlets are a microencapsulated form of zeaxanthin, a xanthophyll carotenoid obtained from marigold flowers (Tagetes erecta), supplied by Nustras as free-flowing beadlets for use as a carotenoid ingredient in supplements and fortified foods. In the beadlet the zeaxanthin is dispersed in a protective starch, gum or gelatin matrix, which gives the pigment better handling and oxidative stability than the crystalline form.

It is formulated into carotenoid and multivitamin supplements in capsule, tablet and softgel form, into vitamin premixes, and into fortified foods and beverages where a dry, dispersible source of zeaxanthin is required.

The material is an orange to reddish-brown free-flowing beadlet. Zeaxanthin content, particle size and loss on drying are standardised to specification; identity and assay are confirmed by HPLC, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
