Slippery Elm

Slippery Elm is a tree native to North America. The inner bark (not the outer bark) is commonly used in herbal medicine and becomes gel-like when mixed with water, giving it soothing properties for mucous membranes. It is widely used to relieve sore throat and to ease irritation in the mouth, throat, stomach, and intestines.
