Passion flower (Passiflora incarnata) is a climbing vine of the Americas whose aerial parts are the plant material used in botanical ingredients. Nustras supplies passion flower as a dried herb powder and as an aerial-part extract powder, for use as a botanical ingredient in supplements and herbal products. The herb contains flavonoids, including vitexin and isovitexin, which serve as the marker compounds.
Passion flower powder and extract are formulated into capsules, tablets and powdered blends for the supplement trade, and into herbal teas, tinctures and functional beverages where the botanical is wanted.
The material is a brown to greenish-brown powder with a characteristic odour. Total flavonoid content is standardised to specification on extract grades and confirmed by HPLC on each lot, and identity is verified against the botanical reference. Loss on drying, residual solvents, heavy-metal, pesticide and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies passion flower powder and extract in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Passion flower is an accepted botanical supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted plant part, extract ratio and claim for their application.
