Mullein

Category: Botanicals

Mullein, Verbascum thapsus, is a tall biennial of the figwort family native to Europe and Asia and naturalised across North America, recognised by its woolly leaves and yellow flower spike. Nustras supplies mullein as dried leaf, dried flower, cut herb, powder and extract for the herbal supplement and tea categories. The leaf and flower contain mucilage, flavonoids, iridoid glycosides such as aucubin, and saponins.

Mullein leaf and flower are formulated into herbal teas and infusions, liquid extracts and tinctures, capsules, tablets and powder blends, syrups and multi-botanical premixes.

Dried leaf is grey-green and densely hairy; flowers are yellow to yellowish-brown; powders are green to greyish; extracts are brown. Identity is confirmed by HPTLC and microscopy against reference material, with extract strength standardised to specification. Heavy-metal, pesticide-residue and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.

Nustras supplies mullein in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Mullein leaf and flower are accepted herbal ingredients in major markets; buyers confirm the plant part, use level and permitted claim for their application.
