Meadowsweet is the dried flowering aerial part of Filipendula ulmaria, a perennial herb of the rose family native to Europe and western Asia, supplied by Nustras as a cut dried herb and as a milled yellow-brown powder. The herb contains salicylate glycosides such as salicin and spiraein, flavonoids, tannins and a trace of volatile oil.
Meadowsweet is formulated into herbal teas and infusion blends, botanical supplements in capsule and tablet form, liquid herbal extracts and tinctures, syrups, and cosmetic and personal-care products.
The material is cut greenish-brown stems, leaves and cream-coloured flowers, or a yellow-brown powder, with a sweet, almond-like odour. Cut size, moisture and foreign-matter content are standardised to specification; botanical identity is confirmed by macroscopic and microscopic examination and by HPTLC, with a grade available to the European Pharmacopoeia monograph for meadowsweet. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies meadowsweet in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Meadowsweet herb is an accepted tea and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted level and claim for their application.
