Matcha

Matcha is a finely ground powder of shade-grown green tea leaves, Camellia sinensis, supplied by Nustras as a certified organic vivid green powder. The leaves are shaded before harvest, steamed, dried and stone-milled, so the whole leaf, with its chlorophyll, theanine, caffeine and catechins, is consumed rather than an infusion.

Organic matcha is formulated into functional foods and beverages, powdered drink mixes, botanical supplements in capsule and tablet form, and cosmetic and personal-care products where a natural green colour and tea polyphenol source are wanted.

The material is a fine, bright green powder with a fresh, grassy odour and a mild vegetal taste. Particle size, moisture and colour are standardised to specification; botanical identity is confirmed by HPTLC and caffeine and catechin content are determined by HPLC. The organic status is covered by a current organic certificate. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
