Linden

Linden is the dried flower of the lime or linden tree, Tilia species, supplied by Nustras as cut dried flowers with their bracts and as a milled powder. Linden flower contains flavonoid glycosides such as quercetin and kaempferol derivatives, mucilage, tannins and a little volatile oil.

Linden flower is formulated into herbal teas and infusion blends, botanical supplements in capsule and tablet form, liquid herbal extracts and syrups, functional beverages, and cosmetic and personal-care products where a mild plant extract is wanted.

The material is pale yellow to greenish-yellow flowers and bracts, or a yellowish-green powder, with a faint sweet odour. Cut size, moisture and foreign-matter content are standardised to specification; botanical identity is confirmed by macroscopic and microscopic examination and by HPTLC. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
