Konjac (Amorphophallus konjac) is a perennial plant of East Asia grown for its large corm, the source of konjac flour and konjac glucomannan. Nustras supplies konjac as a milled corm flour and as purified konjac gum powder, for use as a dietary fibre, thickener and gelling ingredient in supplements and foods. The corm's main component is glucomannan, a water-soluble polysaccharide of glucose and mannose units.
Konjac flour and gum are formulated into fibre capsules and powdered drink mixes for the supplement trade, and into noodles, jellies, gummies and vegan gels where a water-binding, gel-forming fibre is wanted.
The material is a white to cream powder with a faint characteristic odour. Glucomannan content and viscosity are standardised to specification for each grade and confirmed on each lot. Loss on drying, sulphur dioxide, heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies konjac flour and gum in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Konjac is an accepted food additive and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted use, level and labelling for their application.
