Hops are the dried female inflorescences, or strobiles, of Humulus lupulus, a climbing perennial of the hemp family, supplied by Nustras as whole dried cones and as a milled powder. The cones carry lupulin glands containing bitter acids (humulones and lupulones), an essential oil and prenylated flavonoids such as xanthohumol.
Hops are formulated into botanical supplements in capsule and tablet form, herbal teas and infusion blends, beverages, flavourings and bitters, and cosmetic and personal-care products.
The material is green to yellowish-green cones or a greenish powder with a characteristic aromatic, bitter odour. Cut size and moisture are standardised to specification; botanical identity is confirmed by HPTLC and bitter-acid content by HPLC or UV spectrophotometry, with grades available to the European Pharmacopoeia monograph for hop strobile and to JECFA specifications. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies hops in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Hops are an accepted food, flavouring and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted level and claim for their application.
