Grape Seed

Grape seed is the dried seed of the grape, Vitis vinifera, supplied by Nustras as a reddish-brown powder milled from seeds recovered after pressing. Grape seeds are a concentrated natural source of polyphenols, notably oligomeric proanthocyanidins, together with a fixed oil rich in linoleic acid.

Grape seed powder is formulated into botanical supplements in capsule and tablet form, polyphenol blends and powdered drink mixes, functional foods and beverages, and cosmetic and personal-care products where a plant-derived polyphenol source is wanted. It also serves as the starting material for grape seed extracts and grape seed oil.

The material is a reddish-brown powder with a mild, slightly astringent taste. Particle size and moisture are standardised to specification; botanical identity is confirmed by HPTLC, and proanthocyanidin content is reported by UV spectrophotometry when a standardised grade is ordered. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
