Fumitory, Fumaria officinalis, is an annual herb of the poppy family (Papaveraceae) native to Europe and widely naturalised; its aerial parts contain isoquinoline alkaloids such as protopine, together with flavonoids and organic acids. Nustras supplies fumitory aerial parts as dried cut herb, milled powder and standardised extract powder for the botanical supplement and herbal product trades.
It is formulated into herbal capsules and tablets, botanical blends, tinctures and liquid botanical preparations, and herbal teas and tisanes, by supplement manufacturers and contract formulators.
The dried herb is a grey-green leaf, stem and flower material with a faint odour and bitter taste; the powder is grey-green and the extract a brown powder. Identity is confirmed by macroscopic and microscopic examination or by HPTLC against a reference, with total alkaloid content standardised to specification. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies fumitory in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Fumitory is an accepted botanical ingredient in major supplement markets, subject to market-specific conditions of use; buyers confirm the permitted plant part, level and claim for their application.
