Dong quai extract is a concentrated extract of the dried root of Angelica sinensis, a perennial of the carrot family cultivated in the mountain provinces of China. Nustras supplies it as a water or hydroalcoholic extract powder, with cut root and root powder on request. The root contains ferulic acid, the phthalide ligustilide, polysaccharides and an essential oil.
Dong quai extract is formulated into botanical supplements in capsule, tablet and liquid form, into multi-herb formulas of the women's-care category, often alongside chaste tree, and into traditional herbal preparations.
Supplied as a yellowish-brown to brown powder with a characteristic aromatic odour and a sweet, then slightly bitter taste. Botanical identity is confirmed by thin-layer chromatography against a reference, with the ferulic acid content by HPLC; extract ratio, moisture and ash are standardised to specification. Heavy-metal, pesticide and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies dong quai extract in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Dong quai root is an accepted botanical ingredient in major supplement markets; buyers confirm the extract ratio, marker grade and permitted claim for their application.
