Damiana (Turnera diffusa) is a small aromatic shrub of the family Passifloraceae native to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and the southern United States. The leaf is the part used, traditionally as a herbal tea and as a flavouring in liqueurs. Nustras supplies the dried leaf as a cut herb, milled powder and powdered extract for botanical and flavouring use.
Damiana leaf and extract are formulated into botanical supplements in capsule, tablet and powder form, into herbal teas and blends, into beverages and liqueurs as a flavouring, and into cosmetics.
The material is a green to yellowish-green cut herb or powder with a characteristic aromatic odour. Particle size, loss on drying, ash and, for extracts, extract ratio are standardised to specification; identity is confirmed by botanical examination or thin-layer chromatography against a reference, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies damiana in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Damiana is an accepted herbal and flavouring ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted use, level and claim for their application.
