Dahlia pinnata is a tuberous perennial of the daisy family (Asteraceae) native to Mexico, grown ornamentally and for its tubers, which store the fructan inulin as their main carbohydrate alongside polyphenols. Nustras supplies Dahlia pinnata as a dried tuber powder and as an inulin-rich extract powder for the food, beverage and supplement trades.
It is formulated into fibre supplements, capsules and tablets, functional foods and beverages, powdered drink mixes, bakery and dairy products as a fibre and bulking ingredient, and botanical blends.
The tuber powder is a cream to light brown fine powder with a mild, slightly sweet taste; the extract is an off-white to light brown powder. Identity is confirmed by microscopic examination or by HPTLC against a reference, with inulin content standardised to specification by HPLC. Heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies Dahlia pinnata in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Dahlia tuber is a traditional food plant and its inulin an accepted food and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted form, level and claim for their application.
