Cornflower water

Cornflower water is the floral water (hydrosol) collected during the steam distillation of cornflower flowers (Centaurea cyanus), supplied by Nustras as a clear aqueous liquid for cosmetic and personal-care formulation. A hydrosol is the water phase of distillation, carrying small amounts of the water-soluble volatile constituents of the plant.

It is formulated into facial toners and mists, micellar and cleansing waters, eye-area care products, lotions, masks and compresses, and used as the aqueous phase of creams and emulsions where a botanical floral water is specified in place of plain water.

The material is a clear, colourless to faintly tinted liquid with a light characteristic odour. pH, relative density, botanical origin and the preservative system are standardised and stated to specification; identity is confirmed by organoleptic examination and the distillation and origin records of each batch, and heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
