Chaparral

Chaparral is a desert botanical derived from the leaves and stems of Larrea tridentata (creosote bush), supplied by Nustras as a cut-and-sifted botanical and as a powder or extract. It has a long history of use in traditional Native American and folk herbal practice, and its best-known constituent is the antioxidant lignan NDGA (nordihydroguaiaretic acid).

Chaparral is used as a botanical raw material in traditional herbal preparations, in topical and cosmetic formulations, and as a research and extraction feedstock. It is supplied in cut-and-sifted, powdered and standardised-extract forms to suit different processing needs.

The material is sourced from Larrea tridentata, using the leaf and aerial parts, as a green to olive-brown botanical. Identity is confirmed by organoleptic examination and TLC or HPLC, and heavy-metal, pesticide and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
