Amla, also called Indian gooseberry, is the fruit of Phyllanthus emblica (synonym Emblica officinalis), a deciduous tree native to India and Southeast Asia. Nustras supplies amla as a dried fruit powder and as a fruit extract, used as a botanical ingredient in nutritional, herbal and food formulations. The fruit naturally contains vitamin C, tannins and polyphenols and has a sour, astringent taste.
Amla fruit powder and extract are formulated into supplements in capsule, tablet and powder form, into Ayurvedic and multi-botanical blends, into functional foods and beverages, and into hair-care and skin-care cosmetic formulations.
The fruit powder is a light brown to greenish-brown powder with a characteristic sour odour; the extract is a brown powder standardised to specification. Identity is confirmed by thin-layer chromatography against an amla reference, and loss on drying, ash, heavy-metal and microbial limits are supplied to specification and confirmed on each lot's certificate of analysis.
Nustras supplies amla fruit powder and extract in bulk commercial quantities, in food-grade bags and fibre drums, to manufacturers and formulators internationally, with a certificate of analysis, specification sheet and country-of-origin documentation on every lot. Amla fruit is an accepted food and supplement ingredient in major markets; buyers confirm the permitted plant part and claim for their application.
